About This Spot

Stepping into Hyōri Takadanobaba feels like slipping into a quietly spirited corner of Tokyo’s ramen world, where the pace softens just enough to invite you to settle in and savor the moment. Tucked into the vibrant bustle of Shinjuku City, this ramen haven offers a warm, unhurried atmosphere that feels both intimate and welcoming. Familiar chatter hums softly alongside the rhythmic clatter of bowls and chopsticks, crafting a setting that’s casual yet thoughtfully tuned to the comfort of its guests.

The heart of the experience here lies in the thoughtful balance between tradition and playful creativity. Whether you find yourself drawn to the subtle heat of their special tsukemen or intrigued by the layering of flavors in the ankake ramen, each bite reflects a quiet attention to detail and seasonal care. There’s a noticeable generosity in portion and spirit—no rush to move you along, just the quiet pleasure of noodles and broth thoughtfully prepared, with options that let you tailor the experience from spice level to noodle size.

What makes Hyōri stand apart is how its space invites connection—between the dish and the diner, and among those sharing the meal. The friendly staff’s ease and attentiveness create gentle intimacy, helping to make each visit feel more like returning to a familiar local spot than simply eating out. Families find a welcoming refuge, and solo visitors are met with the same warmth, highlighting the place’s quiet sense of community in a city that’s always on the move.

At Hyōri Takadanobaba, the joy comes not just from the food itself but from the feeling of care surrounding every detail, from the thoughtful condiments on the side to the seasonally shifting menu that teases with new tastes and cozy comforts. It’s a space that invites you to slow down, indulge in something a little different, and leave feeling quietly satisfied and part of the neighborhood’s unfolding story.

Served with chicken and ramen with loads of vegetable that you can choose the amount and noodle as well. The taste is good but not unique. But I will try ramen and chicken individually at home

The chicken was cooked to perfection crisp and the ramen had just the right amount of spice for a guy who isn't a huge spice fan, but likes a little kick. The amount of food was very generous and filling.

Best ramen I've ever tried! Super friendly chef and staff. Everyone should try it at least once on their stay here in Japan

Ramen with fried chicken was so nice and special. As a person who normally enjoys tonkotsu ramen, this was quite new but a fascinating experience for me. Chicken and aubergin were both properly cooked. Noodle was bit thick still I like the way this place provide free option to choose bigger portion of it. Nice and friendly service.

Very tasty and spicy ramen! But be careful with the Habanero ramen. Those are really only for the ones loving spicy food.

Amazing local gem! This restaurant in Japan serves some of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had. The portions are generous, definitely great value for money. The owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. A must-try spot for anyone craving delicious chicken near Takadanobaba!
